LD Pro, Single CPU to Dual CPU

I am trying to upgrade my LD Pro to a Dual CPU system.
I have performed all of the requirements as defined by the HP upgrade and the
BIOS does detect the 2nd processor.
My problem is this:
I am Running NT 4 with a fat partition. In order to get the operating system
to recognize the 2nd processor I have to replace 6 files in the SYSTEM32
directory with updated ones from MS. To perform this task I must be able to
boot up and see the C drive. When I place a DOS boot disk in the drive it
cannot find any drives? Any ideas on how I might get access to this partition?

Thanks

Dale

Re: LD Pro, Single CPU to Dual CPU

Dale,

It sounds like the drivers for the netraid card isn't being loaded. MS has a
utility called uptomp to upgrade process to multiprocessors. You might want to
check out the MS site for more info on this utility.
hope this helps,

Re: LD Pro, Single CPU to Dual CPU

Here's the easiest way to go from 1 to 2 processors. Get the UPTOMP program
from the NT resource kit. Have on hand the current or newer service pack
files. Run UPTOMP, which will copy files from the original NT cdrom to make
the OS multi-cpu. Only problem is that if you reboot, there's mismatched SP
versions there now and you'll get a blue screen. *BEFORE REBOOTING* install
the service pack on the system which will now upgrade the multi-cpu bits that
we just copied by UPTOMP to the current SP level. Piece of cake!

Re: LD Pro, Single CPU to Dual CPU

If its a scsi drive you need to load the scsi drivers to see the drive. If you
are mistaken in that the drive is actually ntfs and not fat, put the drive in a
second nt machine as a d drive. Then you'll have access to it.
