Laptop Screen goes black after idle time of 10min and never restores

Hi All

Please provide me the solution as when I leave my laptop idle for 10-15 minutes and when I come back the screens remains black with the power button lit but when I try to light the screen on it doesn't appear even I press the windows symbol or swipe my finger over the mouse pad of the laptop.

Please provide me solution as to how to restore my work work again after idling period of 1-2 hours.  What I had to do is the presss the power button long to power off the laptop and restart the computer which I think not good and may damage the computer in the long run.  Please provide me solution.
