Linux RedHat6.2 on Hp vectra vli8, NIC problem?

I can get the 3com NIC 3c905B to work in Linux on my Vectra vli8.
The NIC works fine in Win98. The installation works fine in Linux and the boot says nothing about any conflicts.
When i try it only shows ,
Usually when executing would give me information for both and
Still when typing ifconfig gives me info about the card.
gives me that driver is loaded <3c59x 0 (unused)> but unused.
trying gives me
gives me nothing but 127.0.0.1
Im sure everything in the configuration of the network (IP,netmask,gateway,etc...)during the install is properly done. Could there a problem with the standard drivers as the NIC is integrated to motherboard?

The problem can be in your BIOS setup. Do you have PnP enbled? Try to change the PnP setting.
BIOS should assign an IRQ to your NIC. This IRQ can't be 0 (my computer uses 11).

Re: Linux RedHat6.2 on Hp vectra vli8, NIC problem?

Have just gotten on this forum and saw your query. May be too late to help you. Sorry. The 3com 905B is not supported by the 3c59x driver very well. I get misc errors depending on the exact 905B card I use. Have switched to a 3com produced driver that Don Becker's page referred me to. 3c90x is available from the 3Com web site. Much better so far.
It's always simple...after the fact.
