Re: Linux already installed
If you don't have the space you will need to redo the operating system setting aside sufficient space for Windows.
Partition magic makes it easier under some circumstances.

Re: Linux already installed
If the reason is only synch your pda, can you tell us which pda have you?
If you have a Palm, you can sync with the software: pilot-link.
There are some programs inside pilot-link like pilot-xfer that allow you to sync, backup and restore from your pda.
In the man page from pilot-xfer says:
pilot-xfer - backup, sync, and restore databases from a Palm handheld device, such as those made from Palm, Handspring, Handera, TRGPro, Sony or other PalmOS-based handheld.
There are some nice front-ends too for pilot-link.
Frank.

Re: Linux already installed
I have been looking for a Linux port or even a compatible synch program like those for Palm but have not had any luck. So, that is
the reason for the windows question.
Thank you for your help.

Solution. When windows installer will propose you some partitions to install to, as long as he doesn't know about most of our FS, he will show them as free partitions... Especially LVM partitions wich are no FS.
. Be sure to have a good linux bootable CD to re-install Grub or Lilo : Windows will install its loader in the MBR.

Fred

Re: Linux already installed
after you install windows in a NTFS or FAT 32 partition ( for making a windows partition, you must have a primary partition free. only 4 primary partitions can be created in a hard disk. if you have used all the primary partitions in linux, you have no luck!, you must have to delete one of them from linux), the boot loader of MBR will be overwrited by windows boot loader.so, you have to reinstall grub or lilo in boot sector to enable multi-boot. ( for that, boot by linux CD and go to rescue mode reinstall grub or lilo from there).
regards,
