Linux and SCSI probe luns
I was told that Compaq Storage Array connected to a Host HBA ex: Emulex does not need the config setting "Probe all luns on each SCSI device" and rebuild the kernel to discover multiple exported luns on the host it is true ? and if it is then do the Compaq storage arrays present multiple luns as different targets each has one lun (presents as jbods disks) to the Emulex host HBA driver ? does anybody know on this.

Re: Linux and SCSI probe luns
This is quite not the answer for the question about the Compaq Storage Array, but in most cases there is no need to rebuild the kernel, only a change in the /etc/modules.conf and a rebuild of the initrd is needed for accessing multiple LUNs of a single Target.

Re: Linux and SCSI probe luns
It seems Compaq aray vendors give a script
which will rebuild the kernel enabling
probing for multiple luns. It is not
possible to scan multiple luns ( one target) just be adding statement "alias scsi_mod max_scsi_luns" statement in /etc/modules.conf.
