Linux system problems crashing database

My Progress database is crashing everytime I get the following errors in my Red Hat 7.0 /var/log/messages file:
================================
kernel: hda: ATAPI 48X CD-ROM drive, 128kB Cache
kernel: cdrom: open failed
modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module block-major-22
=================================
At the time that these errors occur, I do not have a cd-rom in the drive.

Does anyone know how to resolve these errors?

Re: Linux system problems crashing database

After another day of trouble-shooting, I now know that my database isn't crashing due to the cd-rom drive access.

The problem is that when I exit linuxconf and apply changes, it is running my database startup/shutdown script in rc3.d. I found this out by looking at "Things to Do" before I applied changes.

Anyone know why linuxconf thinks that it needs to run some startup scripts to apply linuxconf changes?
