MAC Flapping & VLAN Issues

MAC Flapping & VLAN Issues

Hi

I've got two issues

1) MAC Flapping. The MAC Addreseses seem to be coming from the stacking link of the VC modules and it shows in VLAN999 which is our dummy native vlan. Ports 12/16/20/24 on the 4 stacked Catalyst switches are what we use Shared Uplink Sets.

2) When I use our ALL_VLAN,1,2,3,4 which carry the trunk and then the host does the tagging and try to connect to it via NAT it doesnt seem to work, yet when I used a SuS with the vlan defined it works fine. The exception to the rule is a server I use for mamangement which uses all VLANS and I can connect to it via NAT & RDP which is very odd.

Onboard Administrator 2.2
Blade iLO2тАЩs 1.6
Virtual Connect 1.31
Blade BIOS I15 04/08/2008

2 Enclosures
4x 1/10GB VC-Enet Modules per enc (and stacking cables)
2x 4Gb VC-FC Modules per enc

BL460c blades, 4 NICS (2 Onboard 2 from Mezz),

4 x 24 port Catalyst 3750's with stacking cables.

Each VC module is plugged into the same physical switch with a 802.1Q trunk.

So for example g1/0/16 - g1/0/24 Enc 1 VC Bay 1 ports 1-8.

Ports 4 & 8 are used in the SuS and are not part of the active etherchannel we have setup for each bay.

description WF1 Bay5 Port1
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk native vlan 999
switchport mode trunk
channel-group 12 mode active
spanning-tree portfast trunk

In virtual connect we have serveral networks defined ALL_VLANS_1,2,3,4 with VLAN tunneling on.

Each network is then made up of 6 ports from a bay so ALL_VLans_1 is port 1-3 & 5-7 from Bay 1 (with the exception of bays 1 & 6 on p8 for the SuS)

The SuS have all our vlans defined except the native vlan.

Could anyone shed some light on my two above questions?

Is it possible to export my config out of VC to explain this better?

Re: MAC Flapping & VLAN Issues

I was thinking this could be because the SuS ports are not in an etherchannel on the cisco switch?

Re: MAC Flapping & VLAN Issues

Well I put the SuS ports in an ether channel and still getting this issue.

I also upgraded to the latest build of OA/VC firmware available on the HP site.

Anyone have any clues?

Thanks

Doug
