Machine core dumps

iam using a hpux 11.00 machine and installed omniback3.5 the machine core dumps saying "DATA MEMORY PROTECTION FAULT" WHAT MAY BE THE CAUESE is it any problem with omni3.5 or some problem in my system hardware

You do not specify what OS version, nor the system model, But I suspect you will need to get the core dump that is produced in /var/adm/crash analysed by HP.
I seem to recall that most DMPF panics are often hardware induced.

Hi,

locate the core dump file and execute the command :

# strings core ? more

to see which module is core dumping, it would be a good start point.

do you experience this with other apps?

Your kernel may need retuneing or your memory might need replacing, anything in syslog.log relating to memory parity errors etc..

You should send the tombstone and kernel you're running to hp and get them to debug it with q4.. (see /var/adm/crash/ts99)

Try increase maxdsiz and maxssiz and maxswapchunks in kernel parameters.
