Re: Mandrake 8.2 on HP Pavilion 8770c

Hello,

USB input devices (keyboard, mouse, joystick) are supported with Linux via 2 drivers :

=> a generic driver named "Input core".
=> a specific driver for each device (keyboard and mouse use HID driver).

I guess the kernel used during Mandrake 8.2 install was not compiled with Input core or HID. Another scenario : they may be compiled as modules, which is probably NOT a good idea for keyboard device.

If you feel comfortable enough with install process, bootable floppies, initial ramdisks and kernel compile process, you can take the Mandrake 8.2 floppy and customize it with your own kernel.
Otherwise, try to contact the Mandrake support line : perhaps some other people had the same problem in the past...

Good luck
