Re: Mandrake Linux and HP EN1207D-TX ethernet card, please help

Doh. Hit enter too soon. :)

Anyway, I've got two Ethernet cards in this comp [model 8565C]. One is an ISA 3Com Etherlink III 3C509B [the one I added], and the other one is an HP EN1207D-TX PCI, which is the one that came with the computer.

I tried using Lothar, and I run into two problems with it:

1.) It cannot find the ISA ethernet card at all, which works just fine under Windows, incidentally.
2.) It sort of finds the PCI card, however, it autodetects and sees it as a totally different card [forgot what it was exactly, but it starts with an A.]

Anyhow, I'd really prefer to use the PCI ethernet card that came with the comp, but I cannot for the life of me get it to detect it properly.. and I don't see the HP En1207D card anywhere in Lothar's ethernet card list.

Can anyone please help?

Thanks.

Brendan,

The answers to your ETHERNET Configuration problems (including the Dual Cards issues) can be resolved here:

http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/Ethernet-HOWTO.html

Since I do not have your configuration, I cannot help you more than this .... for now anyway.

Have a Great Day and I hope this Helps!

Brendan,

What does your Bios Setting say?

When the computer boots, Press F1 oe del to get into the Configuration settings.

If it is currently set to Windows, then change it to other.

That should help you out as well.

Have a Great Day!
