Memory Parity Error

Hey

Every time I shut my computer down I get the following error:

***Hardware Malfunction***
Call your hardware vendor for support
NMI Parity check/Memory Parity Error
*** The System Has Halted ***

and i was just wondering if anyone knew what this error means.
Thanks much

Re: Memory Parity Error

It means the system has a problem with one of the memory chips. If this system provides any services you care about, have the memory checked and replace as called for.

Re: Memory Parity Error

looks like memory problem, call for hardware support. to find out your self whether any problem with the memory run 'memtest86' it is open source memory check tool.

this comes part of Fedora Core 4 CD1 or SUSE CD 1 installation menu list.

Hope this helps,

Re: Memory Parity Error

the memtest tool also comes with knoppix, so if you have that livecd available, it is a quick method for testing machines.
