Compaq nx7000. Win XP Home Edition
I reinstalled windows Xp cause during the first installation I made a mistake and installed the German version.
After a while I decide to reinstall the English one.
After reinstalling, I can't access to Mein Dokumente (The German version of My Documents). I receive an "access dennied" error, when I try to open or delete the folders.
I made a backup of the files on CD and now I want to delete the files on the HD. But this is absolutelly impossible.
Any hints?
M

SolutionIF that doesn't work you may need to try something like a boot disk from www.ntfs.com.

Re: My Documents Access Denied
you can try this too:
right click on the folder that contains your files ( c for example).
right click and choose sahring then choose security.
after you will have everyone as full control.
click add and add yourself and the administrator.(coz when you install winxp it ask who will use the pc ...)
give yourself full control and check the box ( allow inheritance ....) if it is not checked.
click apply
regards,

Re: My Documents Access Denied
I tried something like this
In CMD
cacls c:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Mario Cortes\Eigene Dateien /E /G marcor:F
cacls c:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Mario Cortes /E /G marcor:F
cacls c:\Dokumente und Einstellungen /E /G marcor:F
With no result. Is that correct?

Re: My Documents Access Denied
they are all wrong.
a) you must type directory name inside double quote so command can understand where directory name ends (your folder contains white spaces).
b) marco must be a name of existent user (I don't known your user list); as folder name, if contains white space you must type double quote.
c) I hint add /T (so you change also subdirectory) and /C (ignore access denied).
d) if command works, don't display you the help.
For example, if you folder is [c:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Mario Cortes] and your user is [Mario Cortes] (I used square bracket to delimite begin and end string) you could type
cacls "c:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Mario Cortes" /E/T/C/G "Mario Cortes":F
