My laptop is lying to me.... or is HP lying?

Hey all!

I just got a laptop, the HP n5415, a real gem. Anyway, the box says "Duron 900 Mhz" however, good ole Windows XP's system tab says 495 Mhz. Who's lying? Or is it one of those things I need to learn... Thanks in advance, Jason

They are most likely both right.

AMD machines always test slower with whatever MS uses but run faster for certain instructions than a Pentium of the same speed.

Well... I just checked it now, and now its 899 Mhz, but, it bounces around and says stuff like 494 Mhz, 650 Mhz,.... Windows will never get it right :)

Niether are lying windows is right your processor is using whats called PowerNow!??? that adjusts the speed of the processor to help prolong the life of the battery.
