NIC hangs after some time, using redhat 6.1 with HP Netserver E60

Hi,

I am facing a strange problem - have looked all over the net but donot have a clue abt what is happening.

I have successfully installed redhat 6.1 on HP netserver 6.1 (using inbuilt HP Netserver NIC). On boot, the NIC comes up - i am able to do a ping to other computers in the network. I am also able to ping from other computers in the network to the HP Netserver. However, after about 5-10 mins I am no longer able to ping to the Netserver - the NIC is active (the lights on the card are blinking). If i go to the machine and run a command like ifcongif/route/ping then everything seems to be ok again (alas, for the next 5-10 mins only).

I have selected "detect lan activity" in the bios. i read references to PnP being disabled in some earlier queries - i just couldn't find that in the BIOS option.

I am at my wits end - request some help.

Regards,
Its late into the night...

Prasad,

You configuration appears to include an alias for the NIC in /etc/conf.modules. THis would also lead me to belive that the Kenrel module is being removed after inactivity.

Have you attempt to compile the kernel and include the device driver as part of the kernel?
