We have a couple of times gotten the above error. System stays up applications work without drama - has made management paranoid! Has happened 2 times since Oct 2008.

We run RHEL V5.2 with EMC SAN, there 128GB ram and heap of disk. No errors in HP IML no other errors seen.

There is the same error but not on the same box show on bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=453445
You could check sometime on bugzilla, if there is a solution perhaps on a newer release of the kernel.

We have RHEL on a server which doesnt go into suspend mode.

Hi,
No suspend mode and not the same box too I think. You could not put and EMC SAN and 128Gb of ram in a laptop :)
For me, this bugzilla shows only that redhat is working on this "sort" of problem in relation to the kernel.
So you could maybe open a case to RH to know more about this issue.

Basically if your BIOS firmware is old ours was 01/30/2008 then you need to update it or you get weird errors on Linux and BSODs on Windows!

As above problem is in BIOS and needed latest version!
