Need Xvg but no luck with HP website

I've downloaded the Xvg software before, and I believe it was from

ftp://contrib:9unsupp8@hprc.external.hp.com/...

I'm trying to get to this server again, and I keep getting "cannot access this folder" messages. Is this server still available? Is there another server I should be using?

Re: Need Xvg but no luck with HP website

Try anonymous ftp'ing to ..
hpfrcu03.france.hp.com
It's in the "./dist/XVG" directory. Download the README.xvg file first to make sure it's the revision you wanted.

Re: Need Xvg but no luck with HP website

Thanks for the other server. My problem must be with my company's firewall. I can resolve both server addresses to IPs but cannot ping them or connect to them.

I'll try from outside the firewall and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

If you don't mind I can email you the xvg.tar file attachment. I got version 3.20 with me.

Excellent! Please do, my email address is
keith_runnels@mckee.com

This will work under HPUX 11.0, right?

It's on its way. Size is about 0.5MB. It runs on my 11i.

Re: Need Xvg but no luck with HP website

If you are using Internet Exploder, you are hitting a very stupid bug that has not been fixed for years (Netscape and Opera have zero problems). The issue is the (waste of screen space) folder view rather than using 1-liners for the file listing.

Turn off the Exploder's "Folder View" for ftp in the Tools->InternetOptions->Advanced

Or use plain old ftp: server=hprc.external.hp.com, login=contrib, password=9unsupp8

Re: Need Xvg but no luck with HP website

That did the trick! I tried to get to this site from a regular FTP session out at a command prompt. I could ping the hprc.external.hp.com address, but I couldn't connect to it with FTP. The direct FTP connection still doesn't work, but the IE connection does now.

Thanks!
