Need to know time required to restore data using RMAN
Hi,
I am having a database backup of 400GB present in a filesystem /u01.
I want to restore this backup to a filesystem /backup within the same disk.
How much time will it take to restore the data using RMAN?
Regards,
Naveen

Re: Need to know time required to restore data using RMAN
hi,
which version of oracle are you using?
the recovery time varies from environment to environment. If you have fast disks, the recovery will be fast. if you have low resource utilisation (cpu, memory), the recovery will again be faster.
the time taken to perform the rman backup can give you an indication of how much time it may take to restore.
You will have to do the test and obtain your own results.
Don't forget you must also apply your archived logs so recover you archived logs too!
hope this helps!
kind regards

Re: Need to know time required to restore data using RMAN
My general experiance with RMAN is that it takes about 4 times the backup time. If you setup the scripts all correctly, you might get it down to 2, although I doubt it.
