I Have 2 rp8400 with hp-ux 11i, clustered with MC/Sg 11i. pkg1 on hostA will start the database. pkg2 on hostB will start the application web processes. Oracle engineer needs to restart pkg2 whenever pkg1 (DB) moved to hostB, this is to refress the application processes and to be always after the DB processes been created, so plz advice?

Solution
You can write a small script and put in the customer_defined_functions are of the pkg1 control file , where in it checks the hostname before it starts the database . IF hostname is hostA , then it starts normally . But if hostname is returnedas hostB , then it shutsdown the pkg2 on hostB using cmhaltpkg , then starts up the database and then starts the pkg2 pn hostB usin cmrunpkg .
