Re: ORACLE 9i Standard Edition - ArchiveLog and OS version
With the Oracle Enterprise Edition it should be possible to use Parellel Server to maintain a hot online backup on multiple platforms.
The best you can do without that is to take a nightly cold backup and transfer the data files.
I have found that in order to access data from another platform, oracle needs to make changes to the data.
Though the database runs on multiple platforms very nicely, this kind of setup requires a little work.
There are some forums posts in Oracles metalink.oracle.com forum(poor second cousin to itrc, they can't even modify posts with dangerous information). Some kind of setup involving a export or dump has been done in similar situations.
