Oacle 9i installation on HP-UX 11.0

Hi,
I'm trying to install oracle 9i on HP-UX 11.0 ,after completing the preinstallation procedure as it is explained on the CD.I was trying to locate the file runInstaller from the cd /mounted_cd_point/runInstaller.
but this file comes in capital letters while it is in the procedure in small letters.
but if I placed the CD in windows I can find the file as it is in small letters ,although the oralce version is for HP-UX.

any help.

Hi,

My CD-ROM doesn't show what I expect
It can be an Oracle CD-ROM, or a CD created on Windows, or whereever they used Rock Ridge extensions. Long names are truncated or show upper case only. Oracle tells you to use pfs_mount.

Do not use pfs_mount!. Install the Rock-Ridge extension patches instead and never worry about these problems. For HP-UX 11.00 you will need forget all about PFS and install PHKL_26448 (now superceded by PHKL_28060), PHCO_26449, and PHKL_26450 to have HP-UX recognize those file systems automatically on mount! For HP-UX 11.11 (11i) you need PHCO_25841, PHKL_26269, and PHKL_25760 (now superceded by PHKL_28025).

No need thereafter to use -o cdfs to mount anymore, provided you enter the CD drive in /etc/fstab like this:

/dev/cd0 /cdrom cdfs ro,rr,noauto 0 0

hi,
You need to unmount the CD and use pfs mount.

as below :

create a file called /etc/pfs_fstab.
and the content is as below :
/dev/dsk/c0t1d0 /cdrom pfs-rrip xlat=unix 0 0

#nohup /usr/sbin/pfs_mountd &
#nohup /usr/sbin/pfsd &
#pfs_mount /cdrom

The best way is to used rock-ridge mount.But I guest you need a patch for this.

hi,

follow these steps:

1. create file, /etc/pfs_fstab
2. add entry to /etc/pfs_fstab
# "device name" /cdrom pfs-rrip xlat=unix 0 0
3. run pfs daemon at the background
# nohup /usr/sbin/pfs_mountd &
# nohup /usr/sbin/pfsd &
4. start nfs server
# /sbin/init.d/nfs.server start
5. mount and unmount file system
# pfs_mount /cdrom
# pfs_umount /cdrom

Hi

save and close the file

#nohup /usr/sbin/pfs_mountd &
#nohup /usr/sbin/pfsd &
#pfs_mount /cdrom

or else apply these 3 patches for rock ridge extensions PHCO_25841,PHKL_28025,PHKL_26269
and issue the command
#mount -F cdfs -o rr /dev/dsk/ /cdrom

you can CD contents in small letters

WAY TOO MANY references to using PFS mount!

DON'T use PFS - The patches refered to by Robert work great.

The PFS utility makes the STRONG possibility that you have a problem with the CD (like incorrectly dismounting) and the system can't recover without a re-start.
