Omniback II 4.1 Client on RH 9.0

Anyone got the Omniback user interface working on Red Hat 9.0. I was able to do an install from our HPUX installation server, but xomni is missing. Disk agents work, just no UI. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for responding, but the posting you refer to only works for the Disk Agent. The User Interface is still not installed using this method.

Chris, the xomni interface is not available for linux. I believe the Cell Console (CC) is only available on HP-UX and Solaris hosts.

You can run the xomni client from the install server and display it on your Linux X server, but be warned that it does not work very well. Everyone I've spoken to recommends using the Windows GUI for managing the cell. Apparently this is true for the latest version, now called Data Protector, as well.

If you do decide to run this from your X Desktop, keep your display to 8-bit depth and use the -cde switch to xomni (xomni -cde).

Good luck.
