Open source Citadel as a replacement to Microsoft Exchange ?

Dear Linux user,

As far as it looks open source Citadel ( http://www.citadel.org/ ) can be used as Microsoft Exchange replacement. The great interest in Citadel is that it is licence fees free. Without any Apache installed, Citadel is really a turn-key software. I could interface Citadel with Mozilla Thunderbird quite immediately. Citadel web site says it also interfaces itself with Microsoft Outlook among other mail clients.

Because mail messaging facilities configurations may not be immediate for some people including the one I wrote the document for, here is a complementing document I felt necessary to assemble. It can be viewed at http://vouters.dyndns.org/tima/Linux-Citadel-Webcit-Apache-How_to_run_them_altogether.html

Yours truly,

Philippe

So did you end up implementing Citadel as an MS Exchange Replacement? Zimbra I thought is also in a similar league..

If it's a non-commercial environment -- yeah, I guess you can... But MS Exchange is still the gold standard for Groupware and Mail services.
