OpenBSD on DL360 G4

Hi,

I am trying to install OpenBSD 3.9 on a HP DL360 G4, I get a "no disk found" during installation. The install seems to pick up the Intel 6300ESB SATA controller, but fails to find the hard drives.

I read somewhere that switching the SATA controller to "legacy SATA" mode fixes this problem (or something similar), but I haven't found any options in BIOS or anywhere to change this mode.

I've attached the dmesg output, so perhaps it's better to ignore my wild guesses and read that.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Edward

Re: OpenBSD on DL360 G4

Shalom,

You must boot the system off the cd that came with the system, prepare the disk array and then it will be detected and usable to most Linux distributions.

Re: OpenBSD on DL360 G4

I booted off the HP SmartStart CD and tried to access the the Array Configuration Utility - however it does not find any array controllers.

I also just ran a install up to the point of requesting the OS CDs, so the drive has been prepared by the SmartStart CD. Unfortunately this did not seem to make any difference for the OpenBSD install.

Thanks,
Edward

Re: OpenBSD on DL360 G4

To clarify, this system is running a single Maxtor SATA drive - there is no RAID configured that I am aware of, and no RAID BIOS I can access either.

Thanks,
