Re: Oracle 10g Hardware Sizing

Hi,

As a guide for you:
We have a rp3410 with 6 GB and 1 800 MHz processor.
Database has 50 GB and it´s installed in JBOD 36 GB disks 15k rpm.
About 120 users and cpu hasn´t reached in 100%.
Application is an ERP written in Forms.
This UNIX box has 29000 tpm.
Theoretically, you can use an DL380 with 3,4 GHz processor, but be carefull with Oracle prices.
From 1 to 2 processors you can use Oracle Standard One, about US$ 5.000/processor, from 2-4 you can use Oracle Standard Edition, US$ 15.000/processor (for RAC it has to be this one) and for above, Oracle Enterprise Edition, US$ 40.000/processor.
Sometimes it´s better to use a RISC box with less processors.
