Re: Oracle 10g
there is a lot of documentation but
the labels of each document are not always
self explainatory:
In your case I would look for a document
Oracle 10g for HPUX (sorry I don't know
the pdf part-number)
Good luck

Re: Oracle 10g
You should have the September 2005 quarterly update installed.
You should get a current list of patches and required kernel parameters from http://metalink.oracle.com
My understanding is all of this is in the pdf install guide. Do you have one?

Checking recommended operating system patches

Checking recommended operating system packages
Checking for X11MotifDevKit(0.0); found Not found. Failed <<<<
Checking for X11MotifDevKit.MOTIF21-PRG(0.0); found Not found. Failed <<<<

Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Failed <<<<
Problem: Some recommended packages are missing (see above).
Recommendation: You may actually have installed packages which have obsoleted these, in which case you can successfully continue with the install. If you have not, it is recommended that you do not continue. Refer to the readme to find out how to get the missing packages.

Solutionyou must go through the pre-install tasks as indicated in your readme (found in the installation cd)
There is also the VALIDATE script that Oracle provides through metalink that will investigate into you system and provide you with a report of all required changes that you will have to make on your system prior to the installation.
e.g.
OS certified?
User in /etc/passwd?
Got EXTJOB User?
Group in /etc/group?
Input ORACLE_HOME
ORACLE_HOME valid?
O_H perms OK?
Umask set to 022?
LDLIBRARYPATH unset?
SHLIB_PATH unset?
Other O_Hs in PATH?
oraInventory perms
/tmp adequate?
Swap (in Mb)
RAM (in Mb)
SwapToRAM OK?
Disk Space OK?
Kernel params OK?
Links and libs OK?
Got ld,nm,ar,make?
ulimits OK?
Got OS packages?
Got OS patches?
Other OUI up?
if you need further help, do let us know.
kind regards
