Oracle 7.3.4.4 on HP-UX B.11.00 A 9000/803

1) I have an Oracle 7.3.4.4 data warehouse with a SGA 207MB.
2) I have a HP-UX B.11.00 A 9000/803 with:-

Load averages: 1.80, 1.84, 1.80
89 processes: 87 sleeping, 2 running
Cpu states:
LOAD USER NICE SYS IDLE BLOCK SWAIT INTR SSYS
1.80 0.0% 0.0% 0.2% 99.8% 0.0% 0.0% 0.0% 0.0%

Memory: 50480K (17420K) real, 57060K (22920K) virtual, 359972K free Page# 1/7

My swapinfo is:-

Kb Kb Kb PCT START/ Kb
TYPE AVAIL USED FREE USED LIMIT RESERVE PRI NAME
dev 524288 0 524288 0% 0 - 1 /dev/vg00/lvol2
dev 262144 0 262144 0% 0 - 1 /dev/vg00/lvol9
reserve - 538276 -538276
total 786432 538276 248156 68% - 0 -

3) How do I determine or decide if my current operating system can actually handle the data warehouse?

Thanks in advance,

Teck Sim,

The standard answer is: "It Depends".

You need to know about the database activity, how the users get the data, and at least how "tuned" is the database?

Have a look at this document:

I agree it is very hard to answer that question without knowing more about the needs of your data warehouse. It may been fine if you application will be small. It may not even be close if it will be large.

With that being said...You really have a small system. 1 CPU 512MB of memory isn't exactly a large environment for a data warehouse, but you may not require a one?
