The Oracle installer is defective. It will never work because the installer has /cdrom open. PFS is a very painful solution (uses NFS) and except for HP-UX 10.20 and earlier, it is never recommended (ignore the obsolete Oracle comments about PFS) since patches exist for 11.00 and higher to enable the -orr option.

Hi curtisk,

You MUST stage (copy the cd's contents to disk) all installation cd's except 1 (you can stage them all) to install Oracle 8i.
