Hello ,

Try to mount the cd with pfs_mount .

Re: Oracle 9 installation problem

9000/785, is this a workstation ?

I suspect that, in this case, it may be unsupported....

is there sufficient space in /tmp , at least 50m very minumum ?

Re: Oracle 9 installation problem

- correctly export environment variable DISPLAY=:0.0
- if you have enough space, you may stage the software to disk, try again and see if it works.

Re: Oracle 9 installation problem

Hi

If the env parameter TEMP is set, is it set with a valid value? (a directory in a filesystem with sufficient space)

Or unset the TEMP parameter if you have enough space in /tmp.

TEMP is used to redirect the temporary space needed by the installer away from /tmp.

Re: Oracle 9 installation problem

thank you all. I realy appreciate your trying to help. I overcome the problem by delete the oracle installation cd's (which was lying on the HD) and copy them all over from the cd's.
apperently the installation was screwed in some sort of way.

and again, thanks for trying to help

Re: Oracle 9 installation problem

After I installed the oracle9 I want to install database. After 46% I get this message:
ORA-00443: background process "PMON" did not start
ORA-27300: OS system dependent operation:fork failed with status: 12
ORA-27301: OS failure message: Not enough space
ORA-27302: failure occured as: skgpspawn3

what is happening to my machine?!

Re: Oracle 9 installation problem

Hi, with that message, 9/10 is a too limited kernel parameter.

Check them, there is a list of miimun requirements, swapspace and semaphores.

And other oracle apps running on the same server, expecially if 32bit.

Re: Oracle 9 installation problem

Only yesterday I ran oracle9 databases freely on this machine. I didn't touch any of kernel parameters. I can't think of anything I could do to cause this problem. I double checked the kernel parameters and they all look fine (comparing to my other machine with same parameters which works just fine).
so now I don't have a clue where to go.

Re: Oracle 9 installation problem

Some memory areas or semaphores left dirty ?

Check with

ipcs -ma
ipcs -s
swapinfo -tm
