Oracle 9i on rp7410
Hello,
We just bought an HP-UX rp7410 server with 4 processors and 32 gig's of RAM, and with an external HP raid device.
On that machine we installed HP-UX 11i, with the latest recommended patches and Oracle 9i (release1).
We also configured the kernel like Oracle recommends, and we're using RAW devices.
So far so good.
But if we now test the Oracle with a jdbc connection, we concluded that Oracle is 10 times (!!!!) SLOWER than an ordinary Windows 2000 workstation. (1 processor, 500 Mb RAM)......
So I suppose that something isn't correct...but I don't find the problem. Does somewhone knows what the problem can be?

Re: Oracle 9i on rp7410
When you set the machine up, did you use the "Database" kernel template to update the kernel parameters?
If you did, check the value of the TIMESLICE kernel parameter. The template sets it to 1, which is NOT GOOD.
If it is set to 1, change it to 10, rebuild the kernel, reboot the machine and try your test again.
