Oracle Database Upgrade

I have to upgrade and move an Oracle 9.2.0.6 Database on a HP-UX 11.11 PA-RISC server to another server HP-UX 11.23 Itanium with Oracle 10.2.0.2.
Can I use the dbua or is it necessary to exp/imp?

Re: Oracle Database Upgrade

Hi,

You will have more luck if you ask this question in the HPUX/database forum on the ITRC, link is below.

Re: Oracle Database Upgrade

We recently did a similar move.  No imp/exp was required.

We were going from Oracle 8i on PA-RISC to 10g on Itanium.

Since Oracle 8i does not exist for Itanium, we went to 10g on the PA-Risc

then moved to Itanium.

The move to Itanium was very simple.  Our database is on an external disk array.  We just plugged in

the disk array to the Itanium (with 10g installed on it) and fired up the databases.

We did have some glitches with indexes which needed rebuilding.  Over time I have rebuilt all indexes just

to be sure.

Otherwise all went smoothly.
