Oracle RAC: Unable to connect to Cluster Manager

Hello everyone,
We have this situation: we had to move some EVA Lun's to a new location and after that we reconfigured the ServiceGuard OPS cluster, but the Orcale didn't start. Well, the DBA guy installed a new Oracle RAC, but we can`t make it work, all the the time we get this error:

ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01501: CREATE DATABASE failed
ORA-29701: unable to connect to Cluster Manager

Some partners engineers have come, but they haven`t found anything to blame to; SG looks ok and the orcale has been reinstalled many times, by us and other engineers (oracle and hp partners).

If anyone has seen this behavior before, please let us know a hint.

Thanks a lot in advance.
Cristian.

Re: Oracle RAC: Unable to connect to Cluster Manager

Shalom Cristian,

I have seen this behavior before.

It usually results from failing to install pre-requisite patches for SG and the OS that are required by Oracle.

It can also be casued by failing to meet Oracle requirements for kernel configuration and other installation steps which are precisely laid out.

Are you using the Oracle RAC toolkit or trying to manage the cluster yourself?

Re: Oracle RAC: Unable to connect to Cluster Manager

Hi Steven,
Thanks a lot for your quick response. Well, the cluster was running before reinstalling Oracle (the software), and we are using runInstaller for the software and dbca for creating the database. We tryed a new DB, just a small one and the error is the same. SG has the ultimate patches and Oracle is 9.2.0.2

Kind regards.
Cristian.

Re: Oracle RAC: Unable to connect to Cluster Manager

Hello,
Well after checking and checking and cheking, we found that wasn' a configuration issue but a patch one. So, I recommend you all to check the later service notes if you had something alike.

Cheers.
