Oracle creating defunct process

Hi
We got Oracle 9.2.0 database server, Now one of the Oracle process is creating defunct process, which I am not able to kill using kill -HUP , These process will get killed once I restart the database instance. After some time again child process are turning into defunct process. Can any one suggest a solution.

Thanks in Adv.

Re: Oracle creating defunct process

Not a good idea to kill any oracle processes unless you are very confident.
However there are some threads on metalink which describe this kind of thing, in relation to dbms_snp processes.
How are they manifesting themselves?
(ie how do they appear in ps -ef)
If you have metalink access, search for "defunct"
