Oracle dedicated server processes actual memory usage

Hi,

I'm try to establish the actual  memory usage each Oracle dedicated server process uses. Each client  connection generates a oracle dedicated server process on the database server and has  rss memory assoicated against it, in glance I can rss/vss for each process.

Does anyone know if I can determine if this is using shared memory area's or if this the actual amount of memory which each client connection requires.

The reason I'm trying to establish this is to size future growth in client connections.

Thanks

Mike

Re: Oracle dedicated server processes actual memory usage

You want to do your per-client scaling using RSS

The VSS is typically 90% or more just for the SGA global memory.

What version of Oracle?

Recent versions use PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET for the SUM of all workspace for all clients

Be sure to google, or directly search http://forums.oracle.com for other topics discussing

this as your question is a very basic Oracle sizing / tuning one with a good few prior answers.

Hope this helps some,

Hein

Hi Hein,

Thank you for your replay, I'll check out your suggestions.

We are runing 11gr2 with EBS 12.1.3, trying to see what memory footprint additional self-service users will place on the database

Thanks
