Oracle upgrade 9i to 10g

I'm trying to migrate one of our 9i databases to 10.2g using dbua with out success. I get the following message:

version 9.2.0.1.0 not supported for upgrade to release 10.2.0

any suggestions?

Yes,

Check the docs. The upgrade process probably requires an interim step of migrating to 10.1.x first.

Thats the usual, annoying thing with Oracle.

Oracle if a very useful, very touchy database and the mirgration instructions must be followed precisely.

You may have to migrate to 9.2.0.4.0 or some other 9.2 version instead of having to jump to 10.1.

I can ask my DBA at work on Monday but you'll probably receieve a more precise answer here first.

Re: Oracle upgrade 9i to 10g

Darren,

You have to be on 9.2.0.4 to upgrade to the latest version of Oracle as stated at
http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14238/preup.htm#sthref52

So, you should first apply patch 9.2.0.4 to your installation, and the upgrade to 10gR2.

However, unless it's absolutely necessary, I'd suggest you follow the conventional migration approach of exp/imp your data into a newly created 10gR2 Oracle database.

HTH,
