PRM only when system is used.
Hi,
Is it possible to configure PRM in that way so that he only restricts the application on CPU level when the CPU is 'overloaded'.
So when the CPU's are free for 98%, the application can use those CPU's.
But as soon that there is an application starting which requires also 40% CPU , he starts restricting the CPU?
That way you don't waste CPU power.

Re: PRM only when system is used.
That is the way PRM works.
It only comes into "play" when the server is under load and stressed.
Make sure you do not have CPU capping turned on, because that WILL enforce CPU entitlements even if there is no load.
Read the Managing PRM manual at docs.hp.com

Re: PRM only when system is used.
man prmconfig
What you want is to turn off the cpu cap.
This is the "-M CPUCAPOFF" option for the prmconfig command.
With the cap on, if a process is set to only use 10%, that's all it will use, even if the other 90% of the box is idle.
With the cap off, the limits start kicking in only if you get above 100% total cpu consumption (or so).
