Re: Patch installing

You can't install these patches because you don't have the base product already installed.

You must have purchased the Serviceguard product.

Re: Patch installing

Shalom,

You can't manage a cluster without a cluster.

Serviceguard cluster is delivered on the application cd's. To get the cd's you need a software support contract. To use serviceguard, you must have purchased it in advance. It is sold on a per processor basis and you need specific support for it to get updates and codewords from HP. It will need to be added to your software support contract.

summary: Dennis is exactly right in his post.

Re: Patch installing

If swinstall is explictly told to install a patch (e.g. using "\*" or "GOLDBASE11i") then it will let you know when it can't. This can be because the patch (or newer) is already there, or because the patch is for software that is not installed.

For this and other reasons, I always recommend that patches be installed via a matching operation the extended option "-x patch_match_target=true". If you only want to install a subset of the patches in the depot, this is not an option.
