Pavillion 8570C recovery.....HELP

I am running a recovery on my older (but much needed) HP. After running the recovery disc and then restarting the computer, it returns to my old sign in page which has my name and asks for my password. I have entered the only password I ever used and it says invalid. The computer will go no further. I would think that in recovery this page would be gone? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

have changed the boot order in bios to cd drive so that the computer will boot from recovery disc
