Re: Performance Monitoring

Standard HP-UX performance tools are sar, iostat, vmstat and top. Refer to the manual pages of these.

Professional tools are Glance and Measureware that have to be purchased. A trial version of Glance is on the Application CD.

Re: Performance Monitoring

Hi,

The best tool to use would probably be the
glance and measureware products. These can
be installed with a 60 day free trial. These
can be found on your application CD set.
There are are tools such as 'sar' which can
also collect information into data files as
measureware does if set up correctly. On-line
monitoring tools like top are also useful.

Re: Performance Monitoring

Glanceplus (use the graphical version - gpm)and measureware are my choices of performance monitoring tools. Commands like sar, vmstat, iostat, top, uptime, and others: don't collect data as accurately as measureware. Measureware has the "hooks" into the kernel that allow it to capture more detailed info. I would also suggest taking an HP performance tuning class.

Re: Performance Monitoring

Hi Bala:

Here are four documents to give you commands and guidelines for performance analysis.

See Technical Knowledge Base documents #UPERFKBAN00000726, S3100002312A, S3100002312B, and S3100002312C. The last three comprise a 3-part document.

As already mentioned, 'glance' is a superior tool. If you don't already license it, IMO, you should. A trial version is available on the Application CDROM set. 'glance' is easy to use and has builtin help explaining its metrics.

Regards!
