Performance monitoring on an SureStore FC60 disk array
We are currently performance testing various configurations on a new FC60 array.
Does anyone know the best way to measure io throughput and disk activity on the array. We could do with something other than just using sar.
We have tried Glance but it won't recognise the LUNs as being disks (It only shows information for the two internal disks).
Any ideas on other software or how to get Glance to see the LUNs?
Thanks,
Richard.

Re: Performance monitoring on an SureStore FC60 disk array
There are tools with the FC60 that might be of some help, such as the Array Manager 60.
Man ammgr, amcfg, amdsp.
HP do offer SAN mgnt tools; SAN Mgr DM and SAN Mgr LM, which will obviously respresent a more wide scale investment than just this particular array.
Hope this helps, Paul

Glance sees disks at the driver level so I'm not sure if you would get the info you want. What version of glance on what platform and os version are you running?

Re: Performance monitoring on an SureStore FC60 disk array
All,
I've found the reason why glance doesn't recognise the disks. There was no activity on them!!!
As soon as we started perf testing, as soon as a LUN starts activity, glance picks up on it and recognises it. After that, glance remembers the LUN.
We generated some activity for all of the LUNs and glance can now see them all.
Thanks,
Richard.
