Please post your forums successes - August 2004!

Hi Everyone,

Please submit your highlights and successes you have had while participating in the ITRC Forums community. Your feedback helps convey the positive influences the forums have had on your IT life. For example, have you:

1. Posted a question and received a key answer that solved your problem?
2. Have you viewed a message thread that had a solution to a problem you were trying to solve?
3. Found the Forums to be of particular help in sharing information, exchanging best practices, or saving you time?

I'd really like to hear from everyone -- your circumstances, the issues, the outcome, who was of help, time saved, etc.! If you have examples to share, please provide the URL of the thread if possible.

Thanks in advance for your input!

Best Regards,

Even though the discussion is incomplete, the thread is already helping others who were not in the conversation:

I feel good about the effort!
Enjoy!

Gee.. i thought there were lots of stories? what happend?
Just because I been suffered, doen't mean someone else has to be felt the same way, so whenever someone encounter my problems, I try my best to help that person avoid the same misfortune that i befall upon before. Email : aung.ronald@gmail.com

What happened?

It's summer (not that you'd know it by looking out of my window) and people are either on holiday or at HP World.

SEP and John, thanks!

Ron - summer is typically a slow time, but if you want to read other stories see http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=543749

Mark, thanks.

Re: Please post your forums successes - August 2004!

Ping....

I didn't think it was fair that the "forum issues" thread got so much attention and this thread so little.

Thanks for all the hard work by both HP (Dan, Gary, Cheryl, etc) and the posters.

I'm still amazed I've made it this far in 3 years (re: work, not points), and a good portion of that is due to this forum.

Thanks all......

Re: Please post your forums successes - August 2004!

Hi,

Here is a idea related to successes and a way to honor them.

James R. Ferguson is one of the people who contributed to this forum
and helped make it such a great place. According to this thread,

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=681036

James has moved on to other pursuits. He is greatly missed here on the forum.
I would like to suggest that we institute an annual award for the person
who has done the most in the past year to contribute to the forum, helping others, and maintaining a professional and civil attitude, just like James did.
I propose that we name this award after James. We could open a thread for
nominations, and forum members could vote on the nominees. As this is a virtual
community, perhaps HP could come up with a virtual reward and give the winner
a special icon that appears next to their name for the next year to signify
that they won the honor.

This is just an idea. I do miss James and he made the forum a better place. It
would be nice to recognize people who help to make it a better place and
naming the award for him would be a nice way to honor James and his efforts.
