Porting to Linux from Hp-Ux

Hi Friends,

I am planning a port of a HP-UX application written in c++ on 10.2 to Linux based systems.

I need the resources wherby I can predict the fate of such transitions.

Your earlier help will be appreciated.

Under http://devresource.hp.com/STKL/index.html - Linux software transition kit we have a lot of info:

http://devresource.hp.com/LPK/links.html - Linux porting kit useful links
http://devresource.hp.com/STKL/impactlist.html -list of source code transition impacts

and more.

Vitaly, those hp links look like they are for porting FROM Linux to hp-ux, not TO Linux from hp-ux.

Re: Porting to Linux from Hp-Ux

Basically it's work and then it works.
Do you know this list ? It contains a lot about poprting to Linux, using gcc or others...
Search for "hp" or "hp-ux" key in it, you'll get questions on porting applications (not all in c++) and common troubles and solutions.

to Jared Middleton - yes, I know, it's about linux -> hpux, but they speak about differences between hpux and linux - it's very relevant, IMHO

Re: Porting to Linux from Hp-Ux

Thanks Guys,

I have seen all links you have send, still I am searching for ways to find a white paper/case study for such porting exercise. I understand that on account of business prospects, these resources may have not been available through HP. Still considering open source movement I think there should be some exercises done in past like this.

If possible then please send me details of differences between aCC/cfront/gCC compilers.
