Problem scaning SAN disks from a DS8300 Array on 11.31
Hi,
We recently upgraded a pair of machines from 11.23 to 11.31:
HPUX11i-BOE B.11.31.0909 HP-UX Base Operating Environment
The problem we have is when we add a lun from the ds8300 array we can't see the lun without rebooting the servers.
Because I had time I did some tests, and restored and ignite of the 11.23 version on the same server, and I could see the luns perfectly without needing a reboot.
I also tried mapping a lun from a EVA array to the 11.31 and worked ok, so it has to be a configuration problem in the ds8300 array, any of you been there?
I'm going throw the Arrays docs.
Thnx

Re: Problem scaning SAN disks from a DS8300 Array on 11.31
Hi Daniel,
Have you tried running your platform configuration through IBM's configurator to make sure everything is up to date for 11.31?

Re: Problem scaning SAN disks from a DS8300 Array on 11.31
In IBM's support Matrix, it says you need:
A lun mapped on channel 0
and at least update 3 of 11v3
What we had to do, to make it work, doesn't make much sense...
1. we stoped apps, unmounted fs, deactivated vgs
2. unmapped lun on channel 0(carefull!! if you unmap lun0 you get NO_HDW on ALL your luns mapped to the san)
3. mapped same lun on channel 0
4.activ vgs,mounted,started apps
After that we can scan new luns with ioscan, with no problems. On clean installs on 11.31 we don't get this problem, so it looks like you have to map a lun on channel0 while you are on 11.31
strange 0_o ....
