Problem with oracle 8.1.7 installation on workstation
I have a workstation s700 c3000 with hp-ux 10.20 and I'm trying to install oracle 8.1.7.
When I launch the oracle installer I have the following error:
$ Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /tmp/OraInstall/jre/bin/jre. Please wait...
/usr/lib/dld.sl: Can't find path for shared library: liblwp.1
/usr/lib/dld.sl: No such file or directory
I tried to copy liblwp.1 from another server but it doesen't help.
Please help me.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Problem with oracle 8.1.7 installation on workstation
So it will depend on the architecture and processor bit support.
Clay has pointed that!
Thanks

Re: Problem with oracle 8.1.7 installation on workstation
I don't think the workstations will support oracle.

Re: Problem with oracle 8.1.7 installation on workstation
Pls check the Oracle documentation on Oracle Technet ( Install and Upgrade guide ).
http://technet.oracle.com/documentation/oracle8i.html
This will show the requirements for Oracle 8.1.7

Re: Problem with oracle 8.1.7 installation on workstation
1) 8.1.7 wont run in 10.20 enviromment upgeade to 11 or 11i, then do the following.
2) 8.1.7 comes in two versions for 32 bit and 64 bit processors. Make sure you have the correct binaries for your machine. I have found that 32 will run on 64 but it wont work the other way around.
3) make sure you have set all the kernel parameters sugested in the install guide.
4) Make sure you have setup the correct groups/users as specified in the install guide and that you have the correct permissions.
5) run the installer as the oracle user.

Re: Problem with oracle 8.1.7 installation on workstation
The reason for your errors during installation is Oracle8i releases - that is Oracle 8.1.x are supported and released on HP-UX 11.00 onwards.
So if you want to install Oracle 8.1.7, you have to upgrade your OS from 10.2 to 11.0 /11i
