Problems at SEA side !!!

Hi to all.

K360 ??? internal CD ROM ??? boot disks in Jamaica unit.
Ioscan finds all devices.

PROBLEM
- interrupt the boot process
- type SEA

No devices show ???

Shutdown ???r works ok

Bo Pri - server boots ok

bo 10/12/5.2.0 server boots from CD.

Warn A0008 displayed (no boot devices) when SEA reports no boot devices.

Server runs fine.

I am installing 11.00 and it is going fine but the SEA - no boot paths has me a little worried.

Suggestions please.

Re: Problems at SEA side !!!

Ok, the only explaination I can offer is that the "search" command will not be able to show the existence of the disk as bootable device if the SCSI controller's address is set to a higher priority than that of the disk.

SCSI priorities (fr highest to lowest) are 7 to 0 and 15 to 8

So if your controller is at say id 10 and your disk is at 6, the "search" can't see it.And setting the disk's SCSI id to lower priority (eg: 9 or 10 in this example) should make "SEA" happy.

Re: Problems at SEA side !!!

Hi Paula !
Some time ago i had problems searching my DVD ROM in an L2000. I was told to do a firmware upgrade on the drive and after that it worked fine (Just an idea). But i think S.K. Chan's reply would be more effective !

Re: Problems at SEA side !!!

I believe you need to upgrade the system firmware to fix this.
I have seen this on a couple of systems.
Check your current system firmware and then see what is the latest version is

Re: Problems at SEA side !!!

Hi

SEA should find three devices on this machine:-

CD - internal
DAT - internal
Boot disk - Jamaica unit.

Whilst the SCSI id could be a problem SEA not finding any device is strange.

Melvyn

I think you may be right - although at the moment the HP-UX 11.00 install is going on.

One I get it up and running I will check your suggestion out.

Points will come !!!!

Ps Lee Oliver sends his best wishes.

I will post the resolution.

Re: Problems at SEA side !!!

there should be a BCH command to get FWVersion also under the ser menu.
(although it could be hidden)
