RAC information

Hello Gurus,
I am planning to get some glimps of Oracle RAC , I have some idea about oracle administration.
Can anyone provide me a like for a good pdf file to understnad RAC and its administration.

Is it something like TruCluster because I have seen optputs of Oracle RAC is exactly similiar to TruCluster.

Thanks for the help,

Re: RAC information

Hi again Kapil,

There is a good doc in hp about those similarities and differences. Check it here:

Re: RAC information

Depending on what OS you are running RAC on it will be very different.

On HPUX you will use ServiceGuard SGE Rac and either configure the storage using SLVM or CFS

On Linux you will use either Oracle Clusterware for clustering and ASM for disks or HP Polyserve for a clustered file system and Oracle clusterware talking to polyserve.

What OS and disks do you plan to use ?

Re: RAC information

As of 10G you can run Oracle RAC with a "pure" oracle-stack (clusterware/asm) on any platform, including HP-UX. You do not NEED another cluster (serviceguard etc) to run RAC but you CAN integrate the two.
