RH Advance Server 2.1 on DL580 g2
Has anyone run AS 2.1 on a DL580 with 4 proc's
and 8 gigs? I'm trying to understand why Redhat
sees 8 processors (4 physical) and only 3.5 gigs RAM when there is actually 8? I suppose I need to recompile right?
kindest regards
Mike

Re: RH Advance Server 2.1 on DL580 g2
What you are doing has been done.
You need to make sure you are loading either the smp or the large memory kernel.
If you don't have the kernel, you need to install it. The Update interface will let you do it, or you can download the rpms from RedHat. I don't think a recompile is required.
If you installed it, should see that choice at boot time.
You can edit the grub.conf file to change the default boot kernel as well.

Re: RH Advance Server 2.1 on DL580 g2
Oh, and the 8 processor thing is normal as well, as they processors appear to be Xeon's with Hyperthreading.
SMP kernels in Linux treat Hypertrheaded CPU's as 2 CPU's. Thus 4 phyiscal appears as 8 logical.
