RHEL 5.3 Install Error on HP ProLiant BL460c G6
I am trying to install Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 Server (x86)on a HP ProLiant BL460c G6 Blade Server. After booting from OS CD media, I am trying to do a GUI mode installation by pressing enter at the boot prompt. But it guides to text mode installation and stucks at "no driver found error". It seems to be not getting the array controller driver. Isn't it? It is having a Smart Array P410i Controller with 2*146 GB Dual port SAS disks. What I have to do for resolving this? Whether RHEL 5.3 is not supporting this BL460c G6? I tried to boot from HP Smart start 8.30 CD, but while the OS selection time, Linux is not listed there. Find the attached screen shots of the errors. I am using iLO console. Please help....
Thanks in advance..

Re: RHEL 5.3 Install Error on HP ProLiant BL460c G6
First, HP Smart start took out the Linux boot option some time ago.
The version of RHEL 5, update 3 you are using is certified for the G6 server line, which will only work on update 2 or above.
I would boot to the Smart Array configuration and configure the disk first, and then try booting off of the install media.

Re: RHEL 5.3 Install Error on HP ProLiant BL460c G6
Thanks for your fast responds. The array is by default RAID 1 configured. I am confused why it goes to text based installation mode. The Language selection, Kbd selection and all seems to be in this text based setup. Why I am not getting the GUI?
Thanks ...

Re: RHEL 5.3 Install Error on HP ProLiant BL460c G6
What specific command line options are you using.
linux askmethod
Do you have direct console access?
Is the firmware on the ILo up to date?
Any of these issues can cause the isntaller to go text mode.
In the end, do you care? You have the exact same installation options in text mode as GUI.
Something to think about.

Re: RHEL 5.3 Install Error on HP ProLiant BL460c G6
Answer to your queries...
"What specific command line options are you using?"
At the mode selection, I am just hiting 'enter'
"Do you have direct console access?"
I ued iLo integrated remote console. Monitor is not directely connected to Server.
"Is the firmware on the ILo up to date?"
iLo Firmware is of June 2009, not the latest.
Now I am planning to do the installation by connecting a Monitor directly to the blade using Console connector. Will chack and update..
Thanks..

Re: RHEL 5.3 Install Error on HP ProLiant BL460c G6
try see the virtual terminals to see what are the errors. key combination alt+F1 will guid you to vt1 and F2 to vt2. you can get up to 7. go through these vts to find the exact error. The installation automatically selects the text mode because it may not be able to load the correct display driver. If you are comfortable with text mod pls go aghead and install the linux. later the display driver can be configured.

Re: RHEL 5.3 Install Error on HP ProLiant BL460c G6
I am trying to continue with textmode installation but it stucks at "No driver found" message screen. And that screen show unable to find any devices of the type needed for this installation type. Available options are manually select or use driver disk. I already attached the error screen shots above.
Thanks....

Re: RHEL 5.3 Install Error on HP ProLiant BL460c G6
This is the error screen on Alt + F4. It shows some unknown partition table error.
Thanks...
