RHEL AS4 install problem on XW9300

Hi all:
for some reason I have to install RHEL AS4 for AMD64 on a xw9300. After press "enter" to install OS, it shows :

mounting /tmp as ramfs .... done
running install
running /sbin/loader
kernel panic - not syncing:PCI-DMA:High address but no IOMMU

any idea?
the spec. of xw9300: AMD Optron x 2, 2GB ram x 4

ps. I've tried to enale memory remapping , it made no difference.

in HP website only RHEL3 U4 AMD64 OS is supported for this model. why dont you try that and see whether thats working.

also, RH is expected to release RHEL4 Update 1 during end of this month, may be its worth to wait and try the newer update

You need a 64 bit OS for that processor.

Don't try the default i386 version, it will not work.

Hi all:

AS3 U4 is working just fine.

Some lib required by our tools are later than AS3 U4, that's why , of course, upgrade lib package is a way to solve the problem.

but I'm intrestede in 2.6 kernel performance with huge memory.

I'm sure the media is for ADM 64 bit version.

could it be the size of the memroy size too big or bug of installer?

if AS3 U4 AMD64 can install properly, then i believe it must be issue with AS4 installer.

I believe either the memory or some PCI card DMA is not recognized properly by RHEL4

check rh bugzilla site for this issue, may be this is already known.

I know it's been months since the original question, but the answer is you need to specify "acpi=off" in the boot loader options.

I've already gived up and convinced them to use RHEL3 U4
I'll try when I have another machine.
