RX6600 RHEL5.2 SCSI card for SDLT

Hello
I need to connect SDLT tape device to RX6600.
Supported option should be A7173A (HP Dual Channel Ultra320 SCSI Adapter)?
Did someone use another SCSI card and was it working OK?

Re: RX6600 RHEL5.2 SCSI card for SDLT

Shalom,

You can not attach SCSI tape devices to the rx6600 RAID card. A SCSI add in card is required to get the device to show up.

I've learned this lesson the hard way. Though the connection looks physically compatible, for some reason the built in RAID card of the system does not support any external tape devices.

It would also be bad for tape performance to use this channel. For good tape read/restore performance a dedicated SCSI card is recommended.

See http://partsurfer.hp.com or the server documentation at http://docs.hp.com for details on which card to use.

Re: RX6600 RHEL5.2 SCSI card for SDLT

Hello SEP
I know that tape devices cam not be connected to RAID controller.
I also know that I need simple SCSI card for that.
That is why I asked if somebody used other card then supported (A7173A - HP Dual Channel Ultra320 SCSI Adapter).
BTW, this card (A7173A) should be supported in RHEL5.
Am I right?
