Re: RX6600 server performance very slow

Hi,

For CPU
#sar -Mu 5 20

For Memory
#vmstat -n 5 20

For Network Errors
#netstat -s -n

For Disk bottleneck
#sar -d 5 20

Re: RX6600 server performance very slow

well a description more than "very slow" would be a good starting point...

what's "very slow" - an application on the server? every command you type in at the prompt?

we're not mind readers - the more information you provide the higher the chance someone can help.

Aneesh,

but if s/he didn't even know where to start, what chance s/he can understand the output of those commands????

Re: RX6600 server performance very slow

Hi Shattia,

Lots and lots of things to be taken care of here...memory, disks, cpu etc.

- For initial troubleshooting check if the problem started after making installing/changing any software etc.
- If the problem occurs some specific FS
- Any messages in syslog.log or dmesg.

Regds,

Re: RX6600 server performance very slow

Shalom and greetings,

Never fear, there is a plan.

You can run top, and try and see if there is a single process hammering your system.

You can run glance/gpm and also try and identify the problem.

You can run a full diagnostic according to the script in this article:
http://www.hpux.ws/?p=6

You can possibly identify a memory hungry process with the script in this article:

Re: RX6600 server performance very slow

CPU performance as measured how exactly? A few other things to include:

*) which processors do you have in the system? (machinfo)

*) how much memory do you have in the system?

*) which revision of HP-UX are you running?
